Four pages take students from facts to 20 up to two-digit sums with regrouping. Short tips show that 6 + 7 is one more than 6 + 6, a number line hops 57 + 6 to 60, and a tens-and-ones example works through 56 + 27 before 18 vertical problems, six of them with regrouping. Four short stories about muffins, pages, goals and beads follow. In the closing maze, the wrong boxes total 58, 59, 61 or 62, so students have to work each one out rather than guess.
On page 3, an answer like 713 for 56 + 27 means the student wrote 13 in the ones place. Have them keep the 3 ones and move the 1 ten to the tens column.
On page 2, an answer like 63 for 23 + 4 means the 4 was added to the tens. Have students rewrite the problem with ones under ones.
Ways to adjust the four student pages for different students.
Each one is checked against the official document. Where the resource covers only part of a standard, the note says so.
Students solve 24 addition facts with sums up to 20, with tips for doubles and making ten. Related subtraction facts are not practised.
Students add two-digit numbers to one- and two-digit numbers, with and without regrouping, solve four story problems and find sums of 60 in a maze, all with totals up to 100. Only addition is covered, and objects or drawings are used only in the worked examples.
A set of four student pages, each on a different step from facts to 20 up to two-digit sums with regrouping, plus an answer key. The pages work on separate days.
