Learning objectives
- Write uppercase H and lowercase h, starting each at the top line.
- Match capital H, N, E and M to their lowercase letters.
- Pick out the h pictures in a grid and join them into a path.
Students trace H and h, match four capital letters to their lowercase partners, and colour a path of h pictures from Start to home.
Only the colour PDF is ready for this resource so far. The other formats are on the way.

Children trace H and h from start dots, and the answer key describes the strokes: two tall sticks and a line across for H, one tall stick and a hump from the middle line for h. In H or h?, they match four capital letters to lowercase ones, with n, m and k in the rows as look-alikes. The page ends with a picture grid where colouring the hat, horse, hammer, helicopter, hippo and hand marks the only path to the house; the cake, pear and nose stay blank.
The nose is in the grid on purpose: n is the letter children most often mix up with h. If a child colours square 8, have them say "nose" and "hand" and listen to how differently they start.
Before the maze, have children breathe out a warm h-h-h as if fogging a mirror, the tip printed on the key, so they hear that h is a breath with no voice.
Ways to adjust the Letter H page for different learners.
Each one is checked against the official document. Where the resource covers only part of a standard, the note says so.
Students find and name capital H and small h, match four capital letters to their small letters, and pick out pictures that start with the h sound; most of the work is on the letter h, not the whole alphabet.
Students say each picture name and listen for whether it starts with the h sound, which practises picking out the first sound in a word; blending, segmenting and swapping sounds are not covered.
Students trace and then write capital H and small h following the stroke directions; it practises these two letter shapes only.
