Learning objectives
- Recall multiplication facts with factors from 0 to 12.
- Find a missing factor using the related division fact.
- Use doubling and the patterns of 5s and 10s to work out a product.
- Compare their time and score across two timed tries.
Students time themselves on 40 mixed multiplication facts with factors from 0 to 12, then find five missing factors that link to division.
Only the colour PDF is ready for this resource so far. The other formats are on the way.

This is a fact-fluency drill, not a lesson on what multiplication means. Students time themselves on 40 mixed facts, write down their time and score, and try the same facts again later to compare. No fact appears twice, even in reverse order, and nine use 11 or 12, with products up to 132. Below the drill, five missing-factor questions such as 9 × ___ = 54 point toward division, and the key's teacher tip shows that 9 × ? = 54 asks the same question as 54 ÷ 9.
Score the first try before students start the second, so they know which facts to look at again. Check the nine facts with 11 or 12 first, such as 11 × 12 and 12 × 9; they are the furthest from the helper patterns.
Watch the zero facts, 0 × 8 and 0 × 7. Students who mix up the zero and one rules write 8 and 7. Ask how many there are in zero groups of 8.
Ways to adjust the drill for different students.
Each one is checked against the official document. Where the resource covers only part of a standard, the note says so.
Students answer 40 mixed facts from the 0 to 12 tables against the clock. Division facts appear only through the missing-factor part.
Students find the missing factor in five facts such as ? × 12 = 84. Scaling and correspondence problems are not included.
A few facts multiply by 0 and 1. Dividing by 1 and multiplying three numbers together are not covered.
Yes. Nine of the 40 facts use 11 or 12, such as 11 × 12 = 132, so a class that stops at 10 × 10 can cover those nine and score out of 31.
